April 2014 Dividend Income

Dividend_Income_MoneyApril has been one hell of a roller coaster of a month for unrealized gains or losses. Though as a long term investor, I try to keep my blinders on in order keeping myself focused on the real stuff, the dividend income. This stream of dividends consisted of 7 unique companies paying me due to the fact that I hold ownership in the form of shares. April 2014 has generated me $102.96, which is an increase of 2,387.5% from April 2013.

I just wanted to point out that investor class differs greatly from working class because the board of directors for each company are trying to make owners or shareholders happy. This is when you see significantly higher pay raises for investors than working class due to the fact that board of directors are voted in by common shareholders of the businesses. The pay raises come in a form of dividend increases that we have seen quite a few so far at the beginning of this year. Some of my own recent dividend raises include PG 7%, KMI 2.4%, JNJ 6.1%, CVX 7% and RDS.B 4.4%. Employers are not always guaranteed for a pay increase every year, but to Dividend Growth Investor it is the norm.

  • Baxter International, Inc. (BAX) – $11.27
  • Coca Cola Co. (KO) – $8.54
  • Union Pacific Corp. (UNP) – $5.54
  • Kimberly-Clark Corp. (KMB) – $8.47
  • Phillip Morris International, Inc. (PM) – $39.66
  • American Realty Capital Properties, Inc. (ARCP) – $20.83
  • Realty Income Corp. (O) – $8.65

Total – $102.96

    DV,

Great month! That’s a very solid list of companies right there. And glad to be a fellow shareholder with you in most of them.

I’m surprised you received DLR’s dividend in April. I got mine at the end of the month, but I notice sometimes I get dividends a day late.

    Keep up the great work!

    Best wishes.

Glad to have you stop by Jason. We have a really great knowledge sharing community of blogging investors, it is no surprise most of us are fellow shareholders. Each brings something different to the table which makes it quite exciting to read, learn and apply.

My brokerage account sometimes deposits the funds a day late too. I report it when it hits my account, rather than the day of dividend pay date. I think that is what happened.

      Thanks for support!

      All the best.

Great income from some solid dividend payers. I have been looking at PSA and a few others in the storage REIT space. Haven’t puled the trigger. I think I’m more interested in the healthcare REIT sector a lot more. Have you considered HCP, HCN, VTR, NHI, OHI? Just wondering what others think about healthcare REITS.

I appreciate it! There are so many great dividend growth companies out there to choose from. I just pick them.

Yeah, I have been looking at OHI for a while now, I heard of others just haven’t analyzed them. I am a bit heavy on REITs at this time, especially with recent addition in more shares of ARCP. I thought I got a really great deal on that recently.

Thank you so much. Yes, there have been a bunch of dividend raises this year so far and I love it. The sowed seeds are growing, hehe.

Congrats to your raises as well.

      Best of luck.
